Before you set out to tweet until your fingers bleed, build an audience of companies, people or groups of your target audience and start following them. First, just “listen” to them by watching their tweets until you are ready to start offering insight on a specific topic, event or bit of information. This will enable them to be more inclined to follow you if they are interested in learning more about what you have to offer. Remember no one knows who you are yet so offering some insight on how you could help their business would be beneficial before you start blabbing about how awesome you are. Start the conversation by getting to know your potential audience first and it will pay off in the long run and help your word of mouth promotion as you build your twitter following.
This is an email I designed to market the Chicago Tribune’s Football App for the iPhone and Android enabled phones. Let me know what you think of the design as I am always looking to improve my skills.
Chicago Tribune’s Facebook page was voted #2 Best US Newspaper Facebook Fan Page by the Bivings Report. Not to toot my own horn but I created the custom Welcome landing page!
The Chicago Tribune – It may be ranked 9th in the US in terms of circulation, but the Chicago Tribune has its Facebook engagement down to a science. It boasts a custom Welcome landing page, a number of newspaper-specific sub pages,as well as a discussion tab. This is in addition to it’s high average number of likes and comments on every post, and its continuous reader questions.

Shinettes.com gets a face lift. After being in business for over a year and a half I suggested that Shinettes Shoe Shine’s website could use a little polish. Along with restructuring the layout via CSS, a jQuery slideshow is used to showcase Shinettes in action on the home page. Also, their twitter feed is now present on every page to keep their clientele up to date with the latest news and event information.
Check the site out and let me know what you think.
I created the user interface of the Chicago Tribune Interactive Touchscreen that is placed on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. I worked with iGotchaMedia to implement and program the touch functions of the screen and it features the latest news, weather and dining options around town. Take a look:
I created this at the Chicago Tribune (my full-time gig as an Interactive Web Producer); NavyPierPassport.com – NAVY PIER PASSPORT is your ticket to exclusive savings each time you visit Navy Pier.
Today Shinettes Shoe Shine’s website went live. Created and designed by Diso Design, Shinettes is Chicago’s premier all female run shoe shine company offering professional shoe shines for establishments, private events and trade shows.
Shinettes was born with the idea of reinventing the lost art of shining shoes. As a necessary part of grooming in Chicago, shining shoes has been a predominately male industry. Shinettes Shoe Shine gives this art a brand new image with the same professional quality shoe shines both men and women alike have sought for decades.
The site will be managed by Diso Design so check back often. Photos of the Shinettes in action are coming soon so check back often.
